A domestic servant, Dilbar (15), who got his family released through President Pervez Musharraf from the clutches of Mehr Sardars of Daharki, was tortured and his nose and ears were chopped by the feudal lords of Daharki in Chak No. 228-B (Rahimyar Khan) four days ago because the family refused to go back with them (Mehrs) due to their atrocities and excesses.
Half a dozen hired men of Mehrs of Daharki attacked his home to take him back. They injured seven persons by torturing them and fired to keep the neighbours away.
"We have registered a case against six attackers, including Raja Khan Mehr, Mehboob Khan Mehr, and Nawab Khan Mehr under sections 336, 337-H2, 148 &149 of PPC. However no arrest could be made because attackers entered the Sindh province and we are contacting Sindh police to ensure their arrest," said Sarfraz Hussain Sindhu, DIGP, Bahawalpur.
Seven persons, including Muhammad Nawaz, (maternal uncle), Muhammad Murad (maternal grandfather), Manzooran Bibi, Miran Bibi, two minor children Allah Wasaya, and Allah Bachaya sustained injuries while Dilbar and Muhammad Nawaz were removed to Shaikh Zaid Hospital Rahimyar Khan in view of their critical condition.
Murad told newsmen that his family was serving as serfs of Mehr sardars of Daharki for the last 60 years. They tortured them almost daily and forced them to serve round the clock without demanding any wages. They did not let them send their children to school.
